CPCL Recognises Young Local Design Talent
Cathodic Protection Co Ltd has once again sponsored the annual Lincolnshire Young Designer of the Year Awards, a competition to highlight the wealth of local talent in the county’s schools and colleges. The event, held at the National Centre for Craft & Design in Sleaford on Friday 30th June, featured the best of fashion, technology and craft design, as well as innovative, high-quality concepts.
As part of the judging panel, CPCL Managing Director Rob Holden and Technical Manager Marcus Hardy were impressed with the standard of the designs. “If anything, the quality of work has been even greater than last year, with a wide diversity of products and concepts. It was hard to choose the best, but I think the eventual winner was highly worthy of the title,” said Rob. “CPCL is proud to be associated with the competition, as it promotes the young talent we have in the area. And all local business will rely on that talent for future success.”
That eventual winner was James Scott Murphy (18), for his beautiful design of an adjustable floor lamp that would grace any home. James also won the Innovation Award, with the Exceptional Research and Development Award going to Finn Dillon (17), Most Inspirational Concept Award going to Lucy Houghton (18) and Freya Hyde (18) winning the award for Artistic Excellence.
