Celebrating 75 Years of CPCL: Reflecting on the Early 2020s

We have reached the final week of our decade - by decade celebrations, touching on the first half of the 2020’s! This decade began with a major milestone as CPCL proudly marked 70 years in operation.

No reflection on the early 2020s would be complete without acknowledging the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, CPCL remained resilient and emerged stronger.

One of our standout projects in 2020 was the protection of the iconic HMS Belfast, moored on the River Thames in London. CPCL deployed custom impressed current anodes alongside our Transformer Rectifier Units, equipped with remote monitoring and control capabilities. This system ensures the historic warship is safeguarded from corrosion for the next 25 years—an honourable contribution to preserving naval heritage!

Our field services department have grown stronger than ever, securing long term contracts on home turf and around the world. Over the past five years, our field engineers have travelled far and wide - to the Falkland Islands, Ascension Island, Australia, Mauritius, Gibraltar, Madeira and Kenya, to name just a few!

A key focus during this period has been the development of Hazardous area products, notably our ATEX Certified Transformer Rectifier units. We’ve achieved success worldwide, with over 150 units commissioned in a variety of locations throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

In recent years, CPCL has significantly increased its presence at international industry events, especially in the Middle East. Making our exhibiting debut at localised corrosion conferences such as MECOC, MECCE and JUBCOR. These events have provided invaluable networking opportunities and helped us expand our reach across the region, while strengthening relationships with our global partners and agents.

That brings our “Through the Decades” series to a close. As we celebrate 75 years of Cathodic Protection Co. Ltd, we extend our heartfelt thanks to our colleagues, clients, partners, and suppliers—past and present. Your continued support has shaped our journey, and we’re excited for what the next 75 years at Cathodic Protection Co. Ltd will  bring!
