Stainless Transformer Rectifiers Heading for Saudi

Two of the largest TRUst transformer rectifiers built by Cathodic Protection Co Ltd, packed with technology, will soon be heading to Saudi Arabia as part of a larger contract with the Al Aswad Group.  The units are the first CPCL TRs to be ExP rated, marking another advancement in our products.

The TRs will control the current in a large anti fouling system being installed by Al Aswad at a chlorination plant in Saudi.  As they will be working in a Zone 2 hazardous area, they are packed with safety features, including a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), which manages a series of alarms should any complications arise, such as a rise in temperature.

Encased in stainless steel, the units are ExP rated, which provides a continuous influx of purging gas.  The equipment is pressurised to a positive pressure relative to the surrounding atmosphere with air or an inert gas.  Thus the surrounding ignitable atmosphere cannot come in contact with energised part of the apparatus.  The overpressure is monitored, maintained and controlled, and the system significantly improves the life cycle of the equipment.
